The activity of 271 small mines in Iran was resumed during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2021), Manager responsible for the restoration of small mines of Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), Reza Azimi said, Trend reports citing the organization’s website.
According to Azimi, over 6 months, the IMIDRO carried out explorations in more than 4,000 mines in 21 provinces of Iran.
“As part of the plan to resume the activities of small mines in Iran, in total, the activity of 670 mines was resumed in Iran from the beginning of last Iranian year (March 20, 2020) to September 22, 2021,” he added.
The official added that more than 2,000 people have been provided with jobs as a result of the mines getting re-activated. It is possible to extract 1.42 million tons of minerals from these mines.
