About 119,045 tons of what was unloaded in Iran's Shahid Rajaee port since the beginning of the current Iranian year (started on March 21, 2021), Trend reports citing IRNA.
During the last few days, 66,000 tons of wheat have been unloaded at the port, said Masoud Doshvargar, the director-general of Grain and Commercial Services Department of Hormozgan Province of Iran.
The Iranian government buys wheat from domestic farmers at a guaranteed price to build its strategic reserves and regulate the market.
The country suffered its worst drought in 50 years during the 2021 growing season, leading international trade house sources to raise their expectations for imports.
