BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 11. The Bank Keshavarzi Iran issued loans worth about 33.3 trillion rials (about $792 million) to support the agricultural sector in the East Azerbaijan Province (north-western Iran), over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021, through March 20, 2022), the director of the bank’s branch in the East Azerbaijan Javad Mahmoudi told reporters, Trend reports citing IRNA.
Mahmoudi noted that the amount of loans issued by the Bank Keshavarzi Iran in the East Azerbaijan Province increased by 23 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 20, 2020, through March 20, 2021).
The director added that the loans were issued to a total of 42,443 people in the province over the last Iranian year.
“So, the bank issued about 6.67 trillion (about $159 million) worth of loans to 14,437 people for the cultivation of arable lands,” he said.
Mahmoudi also pointed out that the Bank Keshavarzi Iran issued loans worth about 4.92 trillion rials (about $117 million) to 4,552 people for the agricultural industry, and worth about 3.56 trillion rials (about $84.7 million) to 5,877 people for the agricultural services.
According to him, the bank also issued loans worth about 4.32 trillion rials (about $103 million) to 6,567 people for the livestock, poultry, fisheries, and beekeeping sectors, and worth about 2.73 trillion rials (about $64.9 million) to 6,085 people for horticulture.
“In addition, the Bank Keshavarzi Iran issued loans worth 6.16 trillion rials (about $147 million) in connection with 551 greenhouses in East Azerbaijan Province within last Iranian year," the official said.
At the same time, about 1.2 trillion rials (about $28.5 million) worth of loans was issued for the purchase of 1,039 tractors, combines and other agricultural machinery in the province last Iranian year, Mahmoudi stressed.
