Cargo transportation from Iran's East Azerbaijan Province increases

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 20. The volume of cargo transported from Iran’s East Azerbaijan Province (north-western Iran) to other provinces increased by 1.02 percent during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, the official of Road and Transport Department of East Azerbaijan Province Mirza Fatemi said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

According to Fatemi, more than 12 million tons of cargo were transported from East Azerbaijan Province to other provinces in 7 months.

He added that the transported goods from the province to the country’s other provinces were mainly cement, reinforcement, construction materials, oil products, bitumen and tractors.

“Within 7 months, 459,000 tons of cargo were transported from Iran’s other provinces to East Azerbaijan Province, which is a decrease of 61.7 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year,” the official noted.

Fatemi also pointed out that essential products, including wheat, animal feed and raw materials were main transported goods to the province.
