BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 26. Iran’s passenger car manufacturing increased by 35 percent, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), as was reflected in the statistics of the Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, Trend reports.
In total, 1.18 million passenger cars were manufactured in the country for the last Iranian year, while the figure stood at 874,000 in the preceding Iranian year.
Meanwhile, Iran manufactured 97,200 passenger cars in the 12th month of the last Iranian year alone (February 20 through March 20, 2023). This is an increase of 85 percent compared to 52,700 units in the same month in the preceding year.
Overall, about 1.35 million cars of various vehicles, including passenger cars, pick-ups, truck and trailers, vans, bus and minibuses, etc. were manufactured in Iran, which is an increase of 39 percent compared to the about 971,000 units in preceding Iranian year.
Also, Iran manufactured about 113,000 various vehicles in the 12th month of the last Iranian year alone. This is an increase of 86 percent compared to 60,800 units in the same month in the preceding year.
There are three giant car manufacturing companies - Iran Khodro, Saipa, and Pars Khodro, operating in Iran. By implementing various projects, Iran intends to increase manufacturing in the auto industry.
