BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 14. Iran’s imports through the customs of East Azerbaijan Province (north-western Iran), increased by 10 percent in value and 17 percent in volume, during the first two months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through May 21, 2023), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Customs Inspector of Iran's East Azerbaijan Province Leili Orangi said, Trend reports.
According to Orangi, a total of 67,000 tons of goods worth $212 million were imported through the customs of East Azerbaijan Province in 2 months.
The official added that the main imported goods via the province’s customs for the reporting period were vehicles, trucks, machinery used in various sectors and etc.
She noted that the mentioned goods were mainly imported from Türkiye, the UAE, China, Azerbaijan, and Russia.
In total, Iran imported more than 420,000 tons of goods worth $1.34 billion through the customs of East Azerbaijan Province in the northwest of the country, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023).
This is an increase of 13 percent in value, while a decrease of 5 percent in volume compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).
Overall, Iran imported 4.73 million tons of goods worth $7.94 billion for the first 2 months of the current Iranian year, which is a decrease of 4.79 percent in value and 8.7 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.
