BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 16. Iran's rice import decreased by 44.4 percent in terms of value and 42.7 percent in volume, during the first 5 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2023), compared with the same time last year, Trend reports.
As stated in the data of Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), around 537,000 tons of rice worth $633 million were imported to Iran within 5 months.
In the same period last year, Iran imported about 938,000 tons of rice, worth approximately $1.14 billion.
During 5 months, Iran imported mainly from the UAE, India, Pakistan, Iraq and Taiwan.
Overall, Iran imported 14.4 million tons of goods worth $24.2 billion within the first 5 months of the current Iranian year. This is an increase of 7.49 percent in value and 2.17 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
