BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 23. In total, 2.83 million tons of goods worth 316 trillion rials (about $7.52 billion) were sold at the Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) during the last Iranian week (Dec.16 through Dec.21, 2023), Trend reports.
Data from IME shows that sales increased by 3.3 percent in value, while dropped by 7.5 percent in volume compared to the previous week (Dec.9 through Dec.14, 2023).
In the previous week, 3.06 million tons of goods worth 303 trillion rials (about $7.22 billion) were sold at the Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME).
Approximately 2.43 million tons of various goods worth 233 trillion (about $5.55 billion) were sold in the industrial and mining products section of the IME last week.
The main products sold in this section included cement, iron ore, steel, sponge iron, lead, aluminum, copper, cast iron, molybdenum concentrate, etc.
Furthermore, 393,000 tons of various oil and petrochemical products worth 80 trillion rials (about $1.9 billion) were sold in the oil and petrochemical products section of IME.
The main products sold in this section were bitumen, vacuum bottom, polymer materials, chemicals, lube cut, base oil, petroleum products, sulfur, gas, etc.
At the same time, 12,000 tons of various products worth 2.62 trillion rials (about $62.4 million) were sold in the sub-market section of the exchange for the last week.
Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) is a market that sets prices for various products. The products’ prices depend on how much buyers and sellers want them. The IME sells strategically important products in bulk, and the Exchange and Securities Organization of Iran supports this.
