Official ceremonies to be held in Azerbaijan, Georgia & Kazakhstan within launch of container train via Poti-Baku-Actau-Almati route

3 solemn ceremonies are scheduled in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Kazakhstan on 24 December 2005 within the launch of the container train via the Poti-Baku-Actau-Almati route, the Azerbaijani Transport Ministry told Trend.

The fist event is planned in Poti, the second - Baku, the third - Actau with the participation of the governmental delagations and representatives of the transport establishements. The Ministry said that Chine was also interested in the event and presented its address to the countries in this regard.

The decision on launch of the demonstrative train was made on the results of the next meeting of the working group of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Georgia in Tbilisi from 5 to 6 December with the participation of the representatives of the Baku International Trade Port, Caspian Shipping Company and Bulgarian Railway Department.

The train will run twice in a week.

Bulgaria voiced interest in joining the project.

The project will assist to the competitiveness of the TRACECA transport corridor and development of ferry transportation.

Azerbaijan, Georgia and Kazakhstan agreed to apply identical transportation tariff. The tariff will comprise $0,022 per ton/km cargo.
