(autoinsidernews) - Spy photographer Chris Doane snapped these images of a prototype of the next-generation Subaru WRX during hot weather testing. Recently, we have posted spy shots of what has been thought to be WRX test mules wearing Legacy bodies, but hese new images are the first known shots of the 2008 model wearing its real skin, reports Trend.
This may look like a WRX Wagon, but it isn't. As rumored, Subaru is developing a hatchback similar to the VW GTI. Subaru previewed this with its B5 concept, and the WRX is following the concept.
Subaru has dumped the propeller grille for a more conventionally styled five-sided shape. The Subaru WRX is expected to get an unrated 2.5L turbo engine developing up to 330-hp.
There are also rumors that Subaru may drop the Impreza name for its 2008 models, but we expect that it will keep the WRX model names.
