Consumer Goods Demand Increase in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr / The State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan has reported on 9 April that 1.7 bln worth of consumer goods were sold to the Azerbaijani public in the first quarter of 2007. The figure rose by 14.3% compared to the same period of 2006.

Foodstuffs made up AZN 112.6mln, whilst non-foodstuff goods made up AZN 602.1mln. Sales increased by 11.4 and 20.8% respectively.

Since the beginning of 2007, AZN 464.8mln of paid services have been provided to the population, with 74.8% of that being provided to juridical persons and 25.5% to the general public (a 38.1 and 36.1 % increase respectively). The total increase made up 37.6%.

Juridical persons made up 16.2 % of the retail; the general public made up 48.4% and private entrepreneurs made up 35.4%.
