Latvia Stands Ready to Cooperate with Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend / The Minister of Economy of Latvia, Jurijs Strods, who is visiting Azerbaijan, said on 21 June during the meeting with Azerbaijani Minister of Economic Development, Heydar Babayev, that Latvia is prepared to cooperate with Azerbaijan. The Ministry of Economic Development stated that in addition, the guest highly assessed the measures taken in Azerbaijan for entrance to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and expressed readiness to render all kinds of assistance in this regard. Strods considers the participation of the Azerbaijani business people in the Food Exhibition in Riga on 5-8 September as useful. It will be beneficial for the access of the Azerbaijani commodities to the Latvian market. Construction of the car factory will be completed in Latvia in 2008 and discussions took place regarding the prospect of cooperation of the factory with Azerbaijan's Ganja car factory.

Babayev informed the guest of the results of the economic reforms held in Azerbaijan, development of the non-oil sector, and the application of advanced technologies to accelerate economic development.
