Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Babayeva / Baku Steel Company (BSC) company, the biggest metallurgical company of Azerbaijan, has ceased its activities due to the absence of raw material.

Ali Askeri, Vice President of BSC, announced on 3 July that the delivery of raw metal to the plant reduces each day and currently it is at almost zero. "In this connection we had to make a decision to cease its activities for a fortnight. However, this period may be extended," he noted.

In accordance with the project capacity of the plant, 1,400 tons of raw metal is required for production. Whilst the production is ceased, the BSC plans to hold repair and rehabilitation work at the enterprise, which was previously scheduled for a later stage.

During this period, it is planned to hold meetings and talks with companies within the private and public sector, which could offer raw material for the factory.

This comes as the second cessation of activities of the plant this year. The first occurred in January for the same reason.
