Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr E. Huseynli / Three thousand passengers in Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan Airport cannot fly to Baku, a representative of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) in Baku, Rashad Gulamov, said on 1 September.

Problems regarding flights to Baku occurred in Nakhchivan Airport in the middle of August due to lack of airliners. The number of passengers, mainly students, increased due to summer season.

In order to remove the problem the state concern of Azerbaycan Hava Yollari (AZAL) sent airliners to NAR. They implement flights in the routes of Baku-Ganja-Baku. The flights Baku-Ganja-Baku were suspended.

Eight flights a day are implemented in the route of Baku-Nakhchivan-Baku (six TU-154 and two TU-134), Gulamov reported.

Some 1,050 passengers are daily transported from Nakhchivan to Baku, a representative of Azerbaycan Hava Yollari, Maharram Safarli, said. The number of the passengers exceeds the norm by 250-300 people. Usually 800 passengers are transported in the route.

NAR is blockade. Residents can go to Baku only by air.
