Azerbaijan, Baku, 22 August /corr. Trend E.Ismaylov / Complex Geological Exploration and Topography Department of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) completed laboratory examination of soil taken from gas and condensate marine structure Umid, a source at the Department said on 22 August.

The marine structure was studied to determine its reliability and capacity to survive loading of Umid-1 platform which is planned to be established on the structure.

"The laboratory examinations on Umid have already been completed, all data have been presented to the "Oil and Gas Project" Institute which will decide where to establish new platform [Umid-1]," the same source stated.

The operation of the marine platform "Umid]- 1" is necessary for SOCAR within implementation of program on increase of gas production on the fields, developed due to its own funds. From the platform it is planned to drill six gas wells. The platform "Umid- 1", which is constructed on the base of the unfinished platform "Chirag- 6", is the largest object within the program - its height will be 72m. Platform will be placed in 15 km from the offshore field of Bulla-Deniz in the depth of water at 58m.

The supposed recoverable gas reserves on the offshore Umid structure are estimated at 200-300bln cu.m.
