Azerbaijan, Baku, 27 November / Trend / In January to October, 2008 State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) sent over 6.1mln tons of oil for refining, the company said.
A total of 639,700 tons of oil was sent for refining in October.
Petrol products in Azerbaijan are manufactured at two Baku oil refineries with a total capacity of 20mln tons of oil per year. Both plants are owned by SOCAR, which annually refines about 6mln tons of oil produced from onshore and offshore fields through its own funds.
There are 57 oil and gas fields in Azerbaijan, with 18 of them offshore and the remaining onshore. SOCAR staff has amounted to 63,000 people.
This year Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery plans to process 5mln tons of oil. The plant processes 410,000 tons of crude per month.
