Power supplies to eastern Georgia resumed this morning. Supplies were terminated at the Inguri Hydroelectric Power Station yesterday evening after an accident along the Kartli-2 power line, the Georgian Energy Ministry told Trend . The accident was caused by a short circuit in the network and lead to an automatic suspension of the Ninth Power Unit at the Tbilisi State Regional Power Station.
Strong winds in western Georgia reportedly caused the accident. Power supplies to eastern Georgia resumed this morning. Tbilisi received electricity yesterday night. Repairs along the power line will last several days, although backup supplies to eastern Georgia have already been launched, the ministry said.
