As a part of energy exchange, Russia supplied 167.1 million kilowatt/hour of energy worth $6.6 million to Azerbaijan in 2008. Azerbaijan supplied 358.8 million kilowatt/hour of energy worth $9.2 million to Russia, head of the Russian Trade Representative Office in Azerbaijan Yuriy Shedrin told at a press conference.
Azerbaijan and Russian have exchanged energy in compliance with the sale-purchase contract since early 2008.
The mutual energy exchange agreement is prolonged if sides do not object it. Russia exports energy to Azerbaijan at 3.64 cents per one kilowatt/hour. The tariffs were adopted in 2006. Value of energy exported to Russia increased from 1.58 cents per one kilowatt/hour to 1.8 cents kilowatt/hour in 2007. About 250-300 mega watt of energy is exported to Russia.
