Azerbaijan, Baku, March 19 / Trend /

French oil company Total will continue works on development of project on large-scale field of South Pars, Gulamhuseyn Nozari, oil minister of Iran, said to press conference in Geneva, FARS agency reported.

"Total Company expressed its consent to continue work on development of the South Pars gas project," said Nozari. - We are decisive in realizing oil and gas projects. For this reason, we created conditions for the attraction of some foreign companies into these projects, and the decision to participate in the project must be made by the companies themselves".

Earlier the Director of the National Oil Company of Iran Seyfullah Jashnsaz said that the share of total will be transferred to another company due to French company's delay of work on the 11th phase of the South Pars gas project.

Commenting upon the statement by Jashnsaz, official representative of Total, Phenelope Senavoine, told Trend that the talks on Total's development of 11th phase of the South Pars project still continue, but the final decision has not been made on this yet. However, Senavoine did not comment on the reasons of Tehran's dissatisfaction with French company's participation in the project.

South Pars is the largest gas field worldwide, of which reserves are estimated at 14 trln cubic meters of gas.
