In 2009, the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) is planning to put into operation 21 new wells in the Oil Rocks offshore field, which the company develops independently.
New wells will be put into operation to maintain stable oil production volume on the field. According to SOCAR geologists, the residual amount of oil at the Oil Rocks is 30 million tons. SOCAR will drill 78 new wells in order to increase oil production at the field until 2010.
SOCAR put into operation a new oil well depth 1,728 metres from the Oil Rocks-2387 platform in the field. Well's daily production is 19 tons of oil. Ten new wells are planning to drill on the Oil Rocks-2387
Platform. The platform was put into operation in 2007. The daily production from four wells reaches 65 tons of oil.
