Turkmenistan is planning to ink a production sharing agreement (PSA) on the 23rd licensed block in the Turkmen section of the Caspian Sea with the German RWE AG concern, a Turkmen official source said.

Official Ashgabat issued an international tender for the 32nd license blocks in the Caspian Sea, the total resources which is estimated at 12 billion tons of oil and 6.2 trillion cubic meters of gas.

The memorandum was the basis of long-term partnership, which was signed between RWE and the Government of Turkmenistan a month ago, which also identified opportunities for the transportation of Turkmen energy resources to Europe.

RWE is a member of the consortium Nabucco Gas Pipeline International Ltd, which hold Caspian resources via the Caspian Sea and the Caucasus to Turkey and Europe. Since the beginning of April this year Turkmenistan as one of the key suppliers of natural gas in the Caspian region suffers significant losses due to the suspension of exports of fuel in Russia, buys "the lion's share of the export flow due to an accident on Highway Central Asia-Center.

The gas pumping to China via the pipeline which is under construction is planning to launch in the end of the year or in early 2010.
