In 2009, Azerenergy JC (production and distribution of electricity in the Azerbaijani regions) plans to continue work on updating the power network in the regions, the company said today.
Presently, the company upgrades distribution network in the central part of the country (12 cities and districts). The work on laying the self-supporting insulated wires (SSIWs cable) and installation of electricity meters working on the basis of smart cards is under completion in the regions of in Mingachevir, Hajigabul, Ganja, Agsu and Shamkir. The company has already installed meters only to those subscribers who have recently joined the network. The company completed the work in the regions of Saatli, Shirvan, Yevlakh and Sabirabad. Azerenergy will launch the installation work in the Salyan, Masalli, Imishli, Goranboy and Kurdamir regions.
The company plans to upgrade the regional power network after it finishes work in the country's central part.
