SOCAR is working to improve the gas supply of Astara region in Azerbaijan (south), the company said.
Work is arried out within the development of fuel-energy complex for 2005-2015, as well as the state program of socio-economic development of regions of the country in 2009-2013, the report said.
A 159-millimeter-polyethylene pipeline was welded in particular, to improve gas supply in the villages Kakalos, Shiyakaran, Kolatan, Bala-Shahagaji and Shahagaji of Astara region. The work on laying steel pipeline with a length of three kilometers is being conducted on the street Samad Vurgun in Astara. About 1,200 meter pipeline have been already laid.
The work is being conducted to construct a gas pipeline with a length of two kilometers as a part of a ring system of gas supply of villages Gapichimehelle and Alasha. The work on laying 300 meters has been already completed.
