Ashgabat, Moscow agree to strengthen interaction in energy sector

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov and Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin agreed to expand cooperation between the two countries in the fuel and energy complex during a telephone conversation today.

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov and Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin agreed to expand cooperation between the two countries in the fuel and energy complex during a telephone conversation today.

"Special attention was placed on cooperation in fuel and energy," the Turkmen government said.

The conversation was initiated by the Russian side. Russia purchases Turkmen gas.

Transportation is carried out by the Central Asia-Center (CAC). The construction of an additional Caspian pipeline through Kazakhstan on the Caspian coast is also planned.

According to the Turkmen government, Berdimuhamedov and Putin stressed "the high dynamics of interstate cooperation based on principles of equality and mutual benefit, as well as age-old traditions of friendship and trust between Turkmenistan and Russia."
