The issue of Azerbaijani oil supplies and its processing in Egypt were discussed during the talks held in Azerbaijan, Egyptian Petroleum Minister Amin Sameh Samir Fahmy told Trend in Baku today.
"We also considered the issue of sale of refined products in the Egyptian market," Fahmy said.

One of the important topics discussed at the meetings were joint exploration work on the strategic perspective oil and gas structures of Egypt. Egypt has also made a proposal for transportation of Azerbaijani oil through the Suez Canal to the Red Sea and further to the markets of South-East Asia and Japan, Fahmy said.

"We also discussed cooperation outside Azerbaijan and Egypt. We can work on the strategic oil fields in Libya or elsewhere in Africa, where Egypt has extensive cooperation," Fahmy said.

Oil and gas from Egypt is widely used in Africa. The Egyptian national oil company operates in 15 countries, including Venezuela.

"We want to go further, to European and former Soviet Union countries," Fahmy said.
