Iran-Turkey new gas pipeline to transport 50-60 million cubic meters of gas to Europe daily

Construction of a new gas pipeline between Iran and Turkey will allow Iran to deliver 50-60 million cubic meters of gas per day to Turkey and Europe in three years, Director of the National Gas Company Jawad Oudzhi said.

Iran and Turkey signed an agreement to build a new pipeline to transport Iranian gas.

"Turkey is going to supply Iranian gas to Europe through the construction of a new pipeline on its territory. The first step was made in this direction by concluding a treaty between the two countries," Oudzhi said.

Oudzhi said that National Iranian Gas Company will supply its gas to Europe, paying transit costs to ASB comapny. "The diameter of the new pipeline will be 56 inches. Construction work will be completed in 2014," Oudzhi said.

He said that the length of the pipeline will be 620 kilometers from the Iranian city of Miyandoab till checkpoint Bazargan. The total project cost is projected to more than 980 million euros. The share of Turkish company in the project will amount to 77 percent, the National Gas Company of Iran - 23 percent.

He said that the pipeline will be able to transport 110 million cubic meters of gas per day.
