Azerbaijan exports 13-14 million cubic meters of gas per day to Turkey within the development of offshore gas-condensate field Shah Deniz, a source in the oil and gas industry said.

'To date, 13-14 million cubic meters of gas per day  is exported Turkey from the Shah Deniz field," the source said.

Azerbaijan delivers gas to Turkey under the contract on the Azerbaijani offshore gas-condensate field Shah Deniz. Under the contract, Turkey should receive an annual 6.6 billion cubic meters of gas from the first stage of the Sakh Deniz project (total reserves estimated at 1.2 trillion cubic meters).

The contract to develop the offshore Shah Deniz field was signed June 4, 1996. Participants to the agreement are: BP (operator) - 25.5 percent, Statoil Hydro - 25.5 percent, NICO - 10 percent, Total - 10 percent, LukAgip - 10 percent, TPAO - 9 percent, SOCAR-10 percent.

Peak production forecasted at over 8.6-9 billion cubic meters. It is planned that in the second stage of field development, gas production can be brought up to 25 billion cubic meters a year.

Now gas is transported to Georgia and Turkey via the South Caucasus gas pipeline.

The country also continues to export gas to Georgia from the Shah Deniz field. Daily export to Georgia is one million cubic meters, the source said.
