SOCAR, BP continue negotiations on deep gas development on Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli block

Negotiations on the development of gas depth on the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli (ACG) offshore fields block in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea continue, a senior official of SOCAR said Thursday.  

"More than 1.5 years, we have been negotiating with BP on the development of gas resources in the deep part of the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli block. This issue is being negotiated. The issue of development of gas resources has not frozen, it is on the agenda," said the SOCAR official.
The reserves of deep gas in the ACG are estimated at 300-400 billion cubic meters. Deep gas is planned to be developed within the new (separate) PSA.

Participants of the project to develop Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli are: BP (operator - 37.43 percent), Chevron (11.27 percent), SOCAR (10 percent), INPEX (10.96 percent), Statoil (8.56 percent), Exxon (8 percent), TPAO (6.75 percent), Itochu (4.3 percent), Hess (2.72 percent).
