Turkmenistan ups natural gas production

Turkmenistan increased natural gas production (including associated) by 107.5 percent during the first ten months of 2010, the Ministry of Oil and Gas Industry said.

Turkmenistan increased natural gas production (including associated) by 107.5 percent during the first ten months of 2010, the Ministry of Oil and Gas Industry said.

In addition, amount of export fuel supplies increased by 110.4 percent. About 30 billion cubic meters of gas will be transported abroad, especially to Russia, Iran and China.

In accordance with the Program of development of oil and gas industry of Turkmenistan it is planned to increase annual natural gas production to 250 billion cubic meters in 2030, mainly for export. At present, gas production capacity amounts to 75 billion cubic meters of gas per year.

In the future to existing transnational gas arteries (in Russia, Iran and China) may be add new ones, development of promising export directions will be diversified. In particular, European countries and Pakistan and India's markets are considered as new alternatives.

Recently it was reported that the estimated natural gas reserves only in one field - Southern Yoloten - Osman in the eastern Turkmenistan totals 21 trillion cubic meters of gas.
