Azerbaijan supplies about 6 million cu. m. of gas per day to Russia

The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) carries out gas deliveries to Russia in the volume of 5.5-6 million cubic meters a day, head of the Azerigaz Production Union Akbar Hajiyev told Trend today. SOCAR owns the PU.

The gas deliveries are carried out in accordance with amendments to a medium-term contract signed with the Russian company Gazprom at a rate of 2 billion cubic meters a year.

In 2010, SOCAR delivered to Russia an average of 3 million cubic meters of gas per day.
Repair work was carried put on the Siyazan compressor station in September-November last year and its activities resumed on Jan.1, Hajiyev said.

In 2010, SOCAR exported 799.75 million cubic meters of gas to Russia. In December, about 40.32 million cubic meters of gas were transported to Russia compared to 60.8 million in November.

The medium-term contract on the purchase-sale of Azerbaijani gas to Russia (with the possibility of an extension) was signed between SOCAR and Gazprom in Baku on Oct. 14. According to the agreement, Gazprom will get 2 billion cubic meters in 2011 and more than 2 billion cubic meters in 2012.

Azerbaijan began gas supplies to Russia on Jan. 1, 2010.
