Rising Gas Export Is Our Priority; Mirkazemi

Islamic Republic of Iran holds the second largest gas reserves in the world, so rising gas export is one of the our priorities, Iranian minister of petroleum, Dr. Seyed Masoud Mirkazemi said today, Shana reported.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the largest Middle East gas compressor station in Saveh City, Mirkazemi said while today we are witnessing growing progress in different oil and gas related technologies, our country imported not only oil and gas equipments and services before the Islamic Revolution in 1979 but  was not authorized to repair the oil industry parts.

'Rising gas exports whether through pipeline or in the form of LNG are the main policies of the petroleum ministry,' Mirkazemi noted.

He went on to say that laying down more than 200 thousand kilometers of gas pipeline across the country has resulted to benefiting 95 percent of the cities and 40 percent of the rural areas from gas supplies.
 
The largest gas compressor station in the Middle East came online today in the presence of the minister of petroleum.

The event happened concurrent with the celebrations of the 32nd anniversary of the Islamic Revolution victory. New compressor has the capacity to transfer 160 million cubic meters of gas per day.
