Uzbekistan increases prices for electricity and gas

Uzbekistan introduced new tariffs for electricity and natural gas, the national press in Uzbekistan reported.

New registers of tariffs were approved by the Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan on March 30.

The cost of one kilowatt hour of electricity increased by 8.8 percent to 83.6 soums from 76.8 soums. In houses equipped with electric stoves, the cost per kilowatt hour of electricity increased to 41.8 soums from 38.4 soums.

The cost of one cubic meter of natural gas provided to the population increased by 18.3 percent to 79.9 soums from 67.5 soums.

Uzbekistan also introduced new tariffs of central heating, as well as hot and cold water supply from 1 April 2011.

Monthly tariffs for central heating were increased from 397.03 soums to 436.27 soums per square meter of habitation.

Tariffs for hot water supply make up 1,398.04 soums per cubic meter if water meter installed and 5,460 soums per person if there is no water meter. Tariffs for dormitory habitants with general shower rooms increased to 4,061.47 soums.

Wholesale tariffs for heating energy for enterprises and organizations were set at the size of 24,527 soums per Gcal without VAT and 29,432.4 soums with VAT.
Tariffs for cold water supply for population now makes up 78 soums per cubic meter without

VAT and sewerage services - 43 soums per cubic meter.
Prices for industrial and commercial enterprise for cold water supply were set at 165 soums per cubic meter without VAT and 92 soums per cubic meter for sewerage services.
