The largest oil refinery in Turkmenbashi is being repaired, the Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ministry said.

The report said local experts reconstructed the main processing units.

The technical condition was inspected. Old station systems and components were replaced.

"Repairmen completely renovated pipelines in multilayer filtration tanks and osmotic blocks," the ministry said. "They had to install more than 50,000 meters of new high-tech tubes of different diameters."

The tests showed high quality of the conducted work.

In late April, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed the document to authorize the Turkmenbashi oil refinery to conduct the necessary technological operations and the planned overhaul.

This refinery has been recently reconstructed to the amount of $1.6 billion with the participation of foreign companies.

According to the Turkmen Oil and Gas Industry Ministry, more than 1,5 million tons of raw materials were processed from January to March 2011. It corresponds to the plan.

Turkmenistan plans to increase oil refining capacity up to 15 million tons per year in 2015, up to 20 million tons of oil in 2020, up to 22 million tons in 2025, up to 30 million tons in 2030.
