Power consumption has significantly increased in Kyrgyzstan compared to 2010, Deputy Energy Minister of Kyrgyzstan Avtandil Kalmambetov said at the ministry's board meeting in Bishkek on Friday.

"Power consumption is growing in Kyrgyzstan compared to this time last year," KyrTAG quotes Mr Kalmambetov as saying.

"For example, yesterday, power consumption hit 49 million kW / h. This is a largest rise. In 2010 to the day electricity consumption did not exceed 35 million kW /h", Mr Kalmambetov said.

"Last year, in November, power consumption did not exceed 40 million kW/ h. We have been exceeding all the indicators from Nov.1, and all this will negatively affect the distribution networks," Mr Kalmambetov said.

He added that distribution companies, except Oshelektro, do not fulfil their obligations to reduce consumers' accounts accordingly nor reduce technical losses.
