Libya is ready to consider the proposals of Azerbaijani companies to invest in the oil and gas sector, the Libyan National Oil Corporation told Trend over phone today.
The corporation said Libya strives to attract more foreign investors to develop the fields.
"The Libyan authorities and the Oil Corporation of the country strive to cooperate with foreign companies and investors, including Azerbaijani investors," the corporation said.
According to the information, there are still many perspective structures in Libya. They were not previously explored. The authorities intend to begin their exploration with foreign companies soon.
"Along with the companies which are already involved in the oil and gas production in Libya, the country intends to cooperate with other foreign companies and investors," the corporation said.
Earlier, the Libyan National Oil Corporation said that the country will announce a tender for issuing licenses to foreign companies to explore new oil fields.
According to the information, oil production in the country reached 600,000 barrels per day, and the figure will hit 800,000 by late 2011.
