Slight increase in Uzbekistan petrol prices

Petrol prices in Uzbekistan have increased by 25 soums since Jan. 1 due to increased fuel tax for domestic use.

The tax rate on petrol consumption has increased by 14.3 per cent (by 25 soums) which is up to 200 soums per litre since Sunday. The tax for the consumption of petrol and diesel fuel for vehicles for motorists and hauliers is included in the retail prices. This results in an automatic increase in the petrol price.

The retail prices for AI-80 petrol is 605 soums per litre compared to 1.580 soums previously, AI-91 petrol - 1.770 soums (1.745 soums), AI-95 - 1.955 soums (1.930 soums), Premium Euro-95 - 3.225 soums (3.200 soums) since Jan. 1 taking into account the imposed tax.

In 2011, the tax rate at the consumption of petrol, diesel and natural gas for vehicles increased by 30 soums, up to 175 soums per litre of fuel.

Earlier, petrol prices increased in Uzbekistan on August 1. According to the government's decision, the price increase went up on average by 10 per cent. At present the number of vehicles in Uzbekistan exceeds 1.7 million.

The official exchange rate is 1.795.00 soums per $1 on Jan. 3.
