Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb.7 /Trend/

A tender to procure coal for a thermal power station has been canceled in Bishkek, Energy and Industry Minister Askarbek Shadiev said on Tuesday.

"The tender was canceled because it was attended by only two companies. The first company offered coal for $26, and Kulan TB offered coal for $23," Shadiev said, KyrTag reported.

A total of 8,576 tons of Kazakh coal was imported to Kyrgyzstan last year.

The General Prosecutor's Office initiated a criminal case under Article 239 of the Criminal Code. According to the Republican Center of State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance in Kyrgyzstan, the use of Kulansk coal contradicts the basic principles of radiation safety due to the excess of thorium, radium, and potassium.
