Oil output at Masjed Soleiman oilfield will be increased 5 fold using sucker rod pumps, the managing director of Masjed Soleiman Oil and Gas Company said.
"The oilfield has currently the capacity of producing 100,000-200,000 barrels of crude per day," Kamal Mousavi said, adding that the figure will be boosted 3-5 folds, the Shana News Agency reported.
The field also produces some 220 million cubic feet of sweetened gas per day.
Masjed Soleiman oilfield is located 125 kilometers northeast of Ahwaz City, in Khuzestan province.
Iran is the world's fourth-largest oil producer and holds the world's second largest natural gas reserves after Russia.
