Azerbaijan, Baku, May 28 /Trend M. Moezzi/

A wind power plant in northern Iran's Gilan Province will start producing electricity this year.

Progress on the Manjil wind power plant stalled for two years because of the international sanctions imposed against Iran, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reports.

When the foreign manufacturer that supplied Manjil's turbine blades stopped its work with Iran, an Iranian company had to manufacture the parts, explained Yousef Armodeli, the managing director of Renewable Energy Organization of Iran (SUNA).

Now the domestic company can produce one to two blades a day if it has the raw materials needed.

At the current pace work on the power plant should finish in five months, said the head of SUNA.

When finished, the Manjil power plant will produce from 270 to 280 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually, said Armodeli.
