Kazakhstan, Astana, Sept. 20 /Trend D.Mukhtarov/
'The world in an era of change: forming of sustainable energy future'. This is the subject of the next, seventh Eurasian forum under the aegis of the KazEnergy Association which will traditionally be held in Astana during October 2-3, general director of the Kazenergy Association Jambulat Sarsenov reported at a press conference on Thursday.
He said the meeting of the World Petroleum Council (WPC) will take place on October 1 in Astana the day before the forum. Representatives of more than 60 national committees will take part.
According to Sarsenov, the issue of holding a meeting of a higher status, the World Oil Congress has yet to be settled in the framework of the council.
"Around 100 guest representatives of the World Petroleum Council national committees will arrive on October 1. The meeting of one of the major events in the world oil sector will be held in Kazakhstan for the first time, "Sarsenov said.
"This is quite a serious event as the meeting which embraces a higher status, the World Petroleum Congress which is every four years, will follow the Petroleum Council," he said.
It is known that the next World Petroleum Congress will be held in Russia in 2016. Kazakhstan claims to hold the congress in 2020.
According to Sarsenov, the traditional seventh Eurasian Energy Forum will be held in Astana on October 2. A wide range of issues are planned to be discussed, primarily the future of Kazakhstan's energy industry, its role in global energy security and in particular the EU, as well as development of new transport routes in Eurasia.
One of the major issues at the forum is development of 'green economics' which is currently being carried out by the KazEnergy Association. "We are planning to prepare a national report on the state of Kazakhstan's energy field which has to reflect changing times, "Sarsenov noted.
