As of Dec. 1, some 1,456,291 million consumers were provided with gas meters in Azerbaijan compared to 1,443,188 as of Nov.1.
This is stated in the article by SOCAR's Azerigaz production association head Akbar Hajiyev, published in the newspaper The Republic on Friday.
He said that 1,438,348 consumers provided with gas meters fall into the population category (99.9 per cent), while the remaining 17,943 fall to consumers from other categories (0.1 per cent).
As of Dec. 1, the number of meters, working on the basis of smart cards, installed at subscribers' homes is 894,273 units or 62.1 per cent of the total number of those provided with meters, he said.
The operation for becoming sustainable by ensuring the trunk gas pipelines and maintaining their safety was continued during the year. Important work was carried out in the field of reducing gas losses.
Hajiyev said that the number of areas provided with gas has been brought up to 338 during the production association's activity (2009-2012).
