Kazakhstan announces plans for gas production in 2013

Kazakhstan intends to produce 40.5 billion cubic meters of gas in 2013, Kazakh Oil and Gas Minister Sauat Mynbayev said at a meeting in the Majilis (the lower house of the parliament today.

"The forecast for raw gas production for 2013 in the Strategic Plan of the Oil and Gas Ministry is 40.5 billion cubic meters," he said. "It is planned to increase tank gas production up to 22.1 billion cubic meters."

He added that according to the agreement on gas deliveries between "Gazprom", "Uzbekneftegaz" and "KazMunaiGas", all gas "swaps" from "Karachaganak" field are at the same price and are in equal volumes.

"The gas export volume in the country given these swap transactions totaled 11.2 billion cubic meters (an increase of 1.8 percent by 2011)," the minister said. "Internal consumption of tank gas in 2012 increased by 2.9 percent to 10.5 billion cubic meters."

He stressed that 13.5 billion Tenge (151.09 Tenge = $ 1) were allocated from the national budget in 2012 to develop the gas transportation system. Construction of 43 projects were conducted. Gas pipelines with a total length of about 600 kilometers were constructed. As a result, an opportunity was created to provide 60 settlements in eight Kazakh regions with gas.
