Kazakh Max Petroleum encounters no hydrocarbons in well on Uytas North prospect

Max Petroleum Plc, an oil and gas exploration and production company focused on Kazakhstan discovered no hydrocarbons in the UTS-5 exploration well on the Uytas North prospect on Block A, the company reported.

The company has completed drilling the exploration well on the prospect.

"The well reached a total depth of 931 meters without encountering producible hydrocarbons and will be plugged and abandoned," the company said.

According to Max Petroleum, the Zhanros ZJ-20 rig will next move to the Uytas Field to drill the UTS-8 well, which, if successful, will extend the Western limits of the Uytas Field.


Max Petroleum Plc is an oil and gas exploration and production company focused on Kazakhstan. The company holds 100 percent of the Blocks A and E at the license area covering over 12,455 squire kilometers in the highly prolific Pre-Caspian Basin in West Kazakhstan.
