Azerbaijan produces over 18 mn tons of oil in Jan.-May

In January-May 2013, Azerbaijan produced 18.12 million tons of crude oil and gas condensate, which is 2.2 percent less than in the same period in 2012, the State Statistics Committee told Trend on Friday.

Totally in 2012 Azerbaijan produced 42.98 million tons of crude oil and gas condensate, which is 5.3 percent less than in 2011.

According to the State Statistics Committee, the bulk of oil production last year fell on 'Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli' oil and gas fields block and 'Shah Deniz' gas condensate field being developed jointly with foreign partners.

Gas production in January-May of this year amounted to about 7.4 billion cubic meters (sales gas), which is 0.2 percent less than in January-May 2012.

Gas production in 2012 totaled 17.24 billion cubic meters (excluding associated gas), which is 5.4 percent more than in 2011.

In January-May, Azerbaijan produced about 8.94 billion kWh of electric power, which is 2.5 percent less than in January-May 2012.

Last year, Azerbaijan produced 20.43 billion kWh of electricity, which is 6.8 percent more than in 2011.
