The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) began installation of the control head in the emergency well of the Bulla-Deniz offshore field, SOCAR head Rovnag Abdullayev told journalists on Tuesday.
According to him, all the necessary equipment was delivered and tested and deployed before. However, work was not carried out last week due to bad weather. Currently, the weather is conducive to installing the equipment.
Abdullayev stressed that the company intends to keep an utilize the well.
Fire engulfed exploration well No.90 in the north-east wing of Bulla-Deniz on August 17. The sea depth at the field is 26.5 meters. According to SOCAR, ignition happened during drilling at a depth of 5868 metrs. An open gas blowout took place at 23:30 local time, August 17 which was followed by a fire. All 62 workers who were at the platform were evacuated to the shore and there were no casualties.
