Turkmenistan approves internal limits on petroleum products

Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, Dec. 11

By Huseyn Hasanov - Trend:

The limits on oil products for Turkmenistan's domestic consumers for 2014 have been approved by the Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov's decree for 2014.

During his speech at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers the country's head noted "the importance of strict control over the precise implementation of this decree, designed to ensure the rational use of domestically produced motor gasoline, diesel fuel and kerosene".

The president also stressed that the efficient use of Turkmenistan's rich natural resources is essential for successful implementation of wide-scale socio-economic programs in the country to ensure the welfare and prosperity of the Turkmen people.

In late November it was reported that Turkmenistan increased control over the distribution of gasoline when it detected cases of people registering dozens of vehicles to their relatives to get free motor fuel, given by the state.

Authorized banking institutions in Turkmenistan issue coupons for gasoline and diesel fuel in Turkmenistan. All Turkmen citizens are given coupons for a total of 720 litres of free gasoline (A-95 brand) for each motor vehicle per each half-year.

The authorities explain this benefit by the fact that all gasoline is produced in Turkmenistan.
