Power transmission lines with a length of 2,166.3 kilometers will be built within Turkmen national program until 2020 in the country’s northern Dashoguz district, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported.

“The ongoing reconstruction of the existing power transmission lines, construction of new transformer substations and distribution networks, lighting systems in urban and rural areas, will make it possible to bring the energy system of the district to a completely new level,” said the article.

The Dashoguz Power Plant produced more than 1,211 billion kilowatt-hours since the beginning of the year, according to the article.

This completely satisfies the needs of the district, and excess of electricity is supplied to the general energy system of Turkmenistan, the article said.

The Dashoguz Power Plant is capable of generating more than 1.5 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, the article noted.

The power plant is equipped with two gas turbine units manufactured by the US General Electric corporation, each with a capacity of 127.1 megawatts per hour, said the article.

It is expected that 26.380 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity will be produced in Turkmenistan in 2020.
