Italy’s Maire Tecnimont eyes to enter Central Asian markets via Azerbaijan

Italy’s Maire Tecnimont intends to expand its presence in projects in Azerbaijan, Senior Vice President of Maire Tecnimont Gianni Bardazzi said at the fourth international conference in Baku titled “Oil refining and petrochemistry of the Caspian Sea and Central Asia” Nov. 28.

He said the company sees great prospects in projects being implemented in Azerbaijan and would like to become a part of these projects in the near future.

These projects include the modernization of the Heydar Aliyev Baku Oil Refinery, SOCAR GPC, which will allow to further monetize the country’s petrochemical and gas complex, infrastructure projects and construction of solar and wind farms, Bardazzi said.

He noted that Maire Tecnimont has invested its resources and efforts in Azerbaijan in order to play the first role in future investment projects.

The company decided to strengthen its business through Azerbaijan, as the country is a geographical hub for all countries of Central Asia, and the company relies on Azerbaijan’s competitive advantages in logistics, telecommunications and close ties with Italian culture, Bardazzi said.

Maire Tecnimont is an EPC contractor in Azerbaijan within the SOCAR Polymer project implementation.
