As many as 67,000 tons of oil were shipped from Turkmenistan to neighboring Afghanistan and Iraq through Iran's Amirabad port via swap operations from March 21 to June 21, the Turkmennebit (Turkmen oil) state concern said in a message with reference to the Amirabad Ports and Maritime Organization.
About 10 million tons of oil are produced annually in Turkmenistan and the Turkmennebit state concern is the main oil producer.
Such foreign companies as Burren Energy PLC (a branch of ENI), Mitro International Limited, Dragon Oil PLC and Petronas produce oil in Turkmenistan. Azerbaijan’s port of Baku is a popular direction for the Turkmen oil transportation.
