Azerbaijan sees increase in power generation in 1H18

Azerbaijan’s power plants generated 11.34 billion kilowatt hours of electricity in January-June 2018 that is by 1.2 percent more than in the same period of 2017, says a report of the State Statistics Committee.

The report says that 10.9 billion kilowatt hours of the total electricity generated in January-June 2018 accounted for commercial electricity, which is 1.7 percent more than in January-June 2017.

Thermal power plants generated 9.9 billion kilowatt hours of total commercial electricity in January-June 2018 that is 2.7 percent more than in January-June 2017.

Azerbaijan’s hydro-power plants generated 986.1 million kilowatt hours of commercial electricity in January-June 2018 that is 6.7 percent less than in January-June 2017.

Wind farms produced 6.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity, while solar power plants generated 19.3 million kilowatt hours of electricity in the reporting period.
